WSLogistics · Practical freight guidance

Prepare your China–Australia shipment

A useful freight quote starts with the cargo, the route and the services you need. Use this guide to prepare your enquiry before booking.

First time importing from China?

You do not need to choose a container or know every freight term before contacting us. Start with what you know about the goods and where they need to go.

  1. Ask your supplier for the basics. Get the collection city, goods description, packing details and expected ready date. Tell us which details are still unknown.
  2. Explain the Australian delivery. Share your city or postcode, whether it is a business or home, and any unloading or access restrictions.
  3. Clarify what is already arranged. Share the supplier’s shipping offer so we can discuss the remaining collection, freight, clearance and delivery work.
  4. Review the plan before booking. Discuss suitable transport, the complete quotation and estimated schedule with our Sydney team.

We support English and Mandarin communication with customers and suppliers. Discuss your first shipment or call 0414 873 723.

Plan your shipment in more detail

FCL or LCL: what is the difference?

FCL (full container load) means booking a dedicated container. LCL (less than container load) means your cargo shares container space with other shipments.

Choosing between them depends on your cargo dimensions, weight, handling needs and schedule. Ask for a comparison of the complete service: collection, freight, destination handling and delivery. The lowest ocean-freight price alone may not represent the lowest total cost.

If your delivery date is urgent, ask whether air freight is suitable for your cargo. We can discuss options when you provide the shipment details.

Your freight quote checklist

Do not guess if a detail is unknown. Tell us what is still to be confirmed with your supplier. Our freight tools can help you prepare measurements; estimates are not a booking price.

What should I compare beyond the freight rate?

Ask for a written breakdown covering the same route, cargo and service scope. A port-to-port price and a door-to-door price cover different work, so comparing only the headline amount can be misleading.

These are questions to ask, not a list of charges that apply to every shipment. Ask the team to explain any exclusions before confirming your booking.

What should I check before final delivery?

Tell us whether the destination is a warehouse, shop, home or another type of site. Confirm vehicle access, unloading arrangements and any appointment requirements before delivery is arranged.

If there is no forklift or loading dock, let us know. Share any access restrictions, stairs or limits on vehicle size so we can discuss suitable delivery arrangements and what the quotation covers.

How booking with WSLogistics works

  1. Send your enquiry. Share the route and cargo details through our quote form.
  2. Discuss the options. We review the information and clarify missing details, timing and service requirements.
  3. Review your quotation. Check the services, exclusions and estimated schedule before confirming a booking.
  4. Confirm arrangements. Agree the next steps for collection, documentation and delivery with our team.

Transit times depend on the selected route and service. Confirm the estimated schedule for your shipment with us rather than relying on a general online estimate.
